ACE is governed by a 9-member board of uncompensated directors, representing every region of the state. A full time, compensated executive director heads ACE, currently operating within the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation Offices located one block off the Rivermarket in Little Rock.

Barbara Akins, Pine Bluff, AR

Human Resource Director, Jefferson Comprehensive Care System, Inc.

 

Barbara received her undergraduate degree from Texas Woman’s University and her graduate degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia in Labor Economics.  Her 37 years of experience in human resource administration has been accomplished through directing public and private employment groups collaborating with not-for-profit organizations and academic institutions.  Currently, she is the Human Resource Director for Jefferson Comprehensive Care System, Inc. one of 12 Community Health Centers of Arkansas, Inc. headquartered in Pine Bluff.

 

She serves on the board of directors for Leadership Pine Bluff, Pine Bluff Festival Association, and Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity in addition to her participation in several professional and community organizations with national affiliations.  

 

Prior to her return home to Arkansas, she served as Vice President of Administration and Corporate Secretary for ENSTAR Natural Gas Company in Anchorage, AK and as Corporate Director of Diversity for S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc. in Racine, WI. 

 

Lisa Bondurant, Little Rock, AR

Senior Vice President, The Communications Group

 

Lisa has 20 years of experience as a public relations practitioner. Her department manages all aspects of public relations for agency clients including planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive PR programs. Lisa earned the coveted “APR” accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The APR accreditation is a national credentialing program that indicates an individual has passed rigorous written and oral exams concerning public relations practice, theory, history and ethics.

 

Lisa is involved in numerous professional and community organizations, including IABC (International Association of Business Communicators), PRSA (Public Relations Society of America), the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and her church. She has also been active in the American Marketing Association, the Alliance for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing and the Community Relations Council for The Centers for Youth and Families.

 

She has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in communications. She was previously employed in marketing and public relations at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Columbia Doctors Hospital and served as the communications director for the American Cancer Society, Arkansas Division.

 

Maxie Carpenter, Rogers, AR

President, The Carpenter Group Inc.

 

Maxie has 37+ years of experience, including but not limited to, Organizational Development,Talent Development, Global Leadership Development, Strategic Planning, and Process Management. He's also recognized as an authority and accomplished speaker on the subject of Corporate Culture.

 

Currently, Maxie is an Adjunct Professor in the Advanced Degree Program at John Brown University, providing experiential instruction in Leading Change, Mission~Vision~Values, Building Teams, Foundations of Leadership, and Ethical Decisions in Organizations.

 

He's a member of the faculty of Consultants Gold, an organization that assists entrepreneurs with the transition from the traditional workforce into the consulting industry. Maxie’s also a consulting resource for facilitation and curriculum development for the Talent Development group of Wal-Mart Stores and his latest collaboration is Professional Instruction with The Life Long Learning Center of Northwest Arkansas, an organization providing affordable continuing education for individuals, groups and organizations in the community and the marketplace.

 

Dr. Barry Colley, Forrest City, AR

President/CEO Seven Harvest, Inc.

 

Barry has 36 years of professional experience in international, agricultural, and community development. Barry has a particular interest in Africa having held positions with Heifer International, ECO Farm Demonstration Center PEER AFRICA, and Rural Enterprise Agriculture Project with a particular focus there.

 

Currently, Barry is President and co-founder of Seven Harvest, Inc. in Forrest City. The organization develops rural and urban community networks, policy networks, and local fundraising in the Arkansas Delta. Barry received his doctoral degree in Agriculture and Extension Education and African Rural Development in Agriculture from Michigan State University, his master in education administration and international education from Colombia Teachers College in New York, his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Secondary Education from Queens College in New York.

 

Brad Cummings, Batesville, AR

Executive Director, Northcentral Arkansas Development Council, Inc.

 

Brad serves as Executive Director of the Northcentral Arkansas Development Council, Inc (NADC). NADC operates in five counties and facilitates several federal programs including: Headstart, Home Energy Assistance, Home Weatherization, Commodities, and Senior Centers. NADC also facilitates the Workforce Investment Act Program (WIA) which assists unemployed workers with job training and educational assistance.

 

Brad obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Arkansas State University. He worked in public accounting for over 15 years. In August 2008, he received his license to practice as a certified public accountant. Brad serves on the board of directors for the Southside School District in Batesville, AR. He is active in his church participating in the food bank and youth activities.

 

Dan Herrington, Little Rock, AR

Attorney, Friday, Eldredge, and Clark LLC

 

Dan is a partner in the Labor and Employment Litigation Section of Friday, Eldredge & Clark. His practice is focused on representing employers in all areas of labor and employment law, including ADA, FMLA, Wage and Hour, Title VII, OSHA, and NLRA. His practice includes not only representation of employers before courts, arbitrators, and administrative bodies, but also working closely with clients to ensure compliance with the myriad of employment laws. He has successfully argued before the Arkansas Supreme Court as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Diane LaFollette, Little Rock, AR

Chief Operating Officer/Network Director, Museum of Discovery

 

Diane has been with the Museum of Discovery since 1997 when she began as the project director for a four year grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to establish a health initiative for that museum. She became the Director of Education of the museum in 2001. When the Donald W Reynolds Foundation awarded the Museum of Discovery a planning grant to investigate the possibility of putting together a state-wide network of museums in 2003, Diane was hired as the Network Coordinator. In 2006, the Network was awarded over $10 million by the Reynolds Foundation to implement the plans.

 

Diane has a Bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Missouri in Columbia and a Graduate Certificate of Nonprofit Management from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

 

W. Taylor Marshall, Little Rock, AR

Attorney, Williams & Anderson, PLLC

 

Taylor received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University in 2005 with a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration. Prior to attending law school, he worked for Ernst & Young in Washington, D.C., in its National Tax Office. In 2009, Mr. Marshall graduated with high honors from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law. While attending law school, he served as an Associate Notes Editor of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Law Review.

 

Taylor is a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He was also nominated by the UALR Bowen Law School Publications Committee to the National Order of Scribes. Taylor is a member of the American, Arkansas and Pulaski County Bar Associations.

 

Debbie Watts, El Dorado, AR

Vice President of Administrative Services for SHARE Foundation

 

Debbie has been employed with SHARE Foundation over 22 years and has held a variety of titles and positions along the way increasing her experience and knowledge in non profit fundraising, organizational development, financial oversight and marketing. She supervises a staff of nine talented team players in administration, human resources and public relations. Her current position has allowed the opportunity to interact with over 70 non profits operating within Union County in her capacity as Grants Manager for grants that SHARE Foundation awards.

 

Outside volunteer participation includes the T.O.U.C.H Coalition (Tremendous Opportunities for Union County Health) and the ACE Southwest Arkansas Regional Council. T.O.U.C.H. coalition members represent a broad community spectrum that works to improve the level of health in Union County through awareness, education, partnership, prevention, and delivery of health care resources and services so individuals achieve full and active lives.
